James Green has had a long and prosperous career in forestry, however, that wasn’t actually his original plan. His first love was wildlife management. “When I was in college at Mississippi State, to get to the master’s in wildlife management program, you had to get a bachelor’s degree in a related science. I did forestry.”

Green, in fact, chose to stick with forestry instead of going on into wildlife management, and he never looked back. After serving in the Alabama National Guard for a while after college, Green came home to Tuscaloosa and went to work for the U.S. Forest Service. Six years later, he joined Champion International Corp., where he worked in the management side as assistant district land manager. But after a few years, he was drawn to start his own consulting business. That’s when he went out on his own as James T. Green, Forestry Consultant, working with clients all over Tuscaloosa, Fayette County, and even into Mississippi. “I would basically say I do everything from seedling to saw,” Green said. “I’ve enjoyed every bit of my time in the industry and trying to use my experience to the best interest of my client.”
