For Gary Butler, his work at Butler & Company is much more than managing land and timber. It’s about helping people. That’s what has kept him in the business for more than 30 years. “I enjoy helping people,” he said. “I enjoy developing the long term relationships with people and the experience of helping them.”
Butler has been doing just that throughout west-central Alabama and Mississippi since he graduated from Auburn University with a forest management degree in the late 1970s.

He focuses mainly on forest management services such as timber cruising, site preparation and tree planting, along with consulting and other general forest management activities. He also is a real estate broker and appraiser, so he offers real estate sales and appraisals as well. “What really sets us apart is how we care about our clients,” Butler added. “We treat them as family and how we would want to be treated ourselves. I’m a private landowner too, so I understand where people are coming from and what they need.”
