Andrew Loflin took a roundabout route
into forestry, starting first with a
career in the military. After nearly a
decade as an infantry officer, he left
the Army to pursue a career in forestry.
He earned a degree in forestry from
Auburn University and then joined Loflin
Forest Management, a company originally
started by his father, John.
Now, as the head of Andalusia-based
Loflin Forest Management, Andrew is
passionate about being an advocate for
small landowners, who may only
experience one or two timber sales in
their lifetimes. "I like being the
advocate for the small landowner and
level the playing field for them in a
land of giants," he says, recognizing
the challenges they face competing
against large corporations.
Andrew’s expertise spans counties in
West Alabama and even parts of the
Florida Panhandle, where he works
closely with clients to help them
navigate the ever-changing market. He
credits his experience in the army as
preparing him for the unique challenges
each landowner brings. "In my previous
life, the mission of the day could
change on a dime," he explains. "It’s
still like that in this line of work
because every client is unique and comes
with their own objectives."
